One of the most popular wild caves in the Northeast: a half-mile of stream passage in the Helderberg limestone near Clarksville, preserved by the Northeastern Cave Conservancy and open for real self-guided caving. Free, no elevator and no gift shop, bring three light sources and expect to get wet and muddy. READ THE CONSERVANCY RULES FIRST, because they are not suggestions: minimum group size three, maximum fifteen, visits between 7am and 11pm, and caves that have held northern long-eared bats are shut from 1 October to 1 May. Turning up alone in February is not caving, it is a wasted drive.
