A Calvert County park on the Chesapeake, half a mile by trail from the lot to a sandy beach. The county says shark teeth and other Miocene fossils turn up along its shoreline, and Maryland DNR sends fossil hunters here for tiger, hammerhead and sand shark teeth and the occasional megalodon. The surf does the work, so come at low tide or the day after a storm. Entry is charged per car, more for non-residents from April to October, and in fall and winter the park closes Tuesday to Thursday.
Shark teeth, ray plates · Miocene, 8-20 mya
