Argentina’s national gemstone is rosa del Inca, banded pink rhodochrosite formed as stalactites in old Inca-era silver workings at Capillitas in Catamarca, and cut across to show concentric rose-pink rings found nowhere else in this quality. The mine sits above 3,000 metres. Buy through Argentine dealers; Capillitas material is a collector standard.
