The great copper-roofed castle-hotel on the cliff above the St. Lawrence at Quebec City, the most photographed hotel in the world, and haunted, they say, by the Comte de Frontenac himself and by a “Lady in White,” a bride who fell (or was thrown) from the terrace. It stands on the site of old forts and a governor’s chateau, and the whole walled Old Quebec around it, the only fortified city north of Mexico, is a UNESCO World Heritage site thick with three centuries of ghosts. PUBLIC hotel and terrace, Quebec City.
