The “thousand doors,” a grand Dutch colonial railway headquarters in Semarang, Java, built in 1904 and later used by the Japanese occupation, whose basement held cells and executions. It is the most famously haunted building in Indonesia, the subject of TV specials and a well-worn night-tour trade. Now restored as a museum, its stained glass and endless doorways are genuinely beautiful. PUBLIC, Semarang.
