A real USAF facility, officially acknowledged in 2013
The most famous secret in America, and it is real: a United States Air Force facility on Groom Lake in the Nevada desert, officially Homey Airport, where the U-2 was tested. The CIA finally acknowledged that much in a declassified history released in June 2013 after decades of saying nothing. The perimeter is marked with orange posts and watched by guards in white pickups; the signs say photography is prohibited and that deadly force is authorised, motion sensors sit out on the public land, and the airspace above is permanently closed to civil and ordinary military traffic. DO NOT test the boundary. The whole draw is the drive: the Extraterrestrial Highway, Rachel, and the long empty basin.
