A resort village went under 30 metres of lake in 1941 and is still down there

There was a summer resort village on this shore from 1888: hotels, cottages, a wharf, boats running the lake. In 1941 the dam that still stands raised Lake Minnewanka 30 metres and put the whole of it underwater. The village is down there, along with the bridge pilings and the earlier dam of 1912, and because the lake is 21 kilometres long and 142 metres deep and very cold, it is all still recognisable. Divers go down to it, which is why Parks Canada publishes its own guidance on diving the submerged cultural resources. Read that before you plan anything: this is a national park and the remains are protected, not salvage.
