Real, carefully documented sightings; no physical evidence

Along a quiet farm road outside Elkhorn, from the late 1980s into the 1990s, people kept reporting the same thing: a large, upright, wolf-like animal, seen at close range, often in headlights, by witnesses who had nothing to gain by saying so. A local reporter, Linda Godfrey, took the accounts seriously enough to document them properly, and the name stuck. There is no physical evidence, and the honest reading is misidentified bears, big dogs or coyotes in poor light. The reports themselves, though, are real, careful and worth reading.
