The largest effigy mound on Earth, on an ancient impact crater
The largest serpent effigy in the world uncoils along a ridge in southern Ohio, a quarter-mile of earthen snake with its jaws open around an oval, built by Native people on the rim of a very ancient meteorite crater (the strange broken geology may be why they chose the spot). Its coils align with the sun at the solstices. Who built it and exactly when is still debated. PUBLIC, Adams County, Ohio.
