A working library that has streamed its own ghost hunt since the 1990s
The oldest public library in Indiana, opened 1885, and the subject of the longest-running ghost-watch on the internet: the library mounted webcams in the 1990s so anyone could sit up looking for the Grey Lady, a woman in grey said to walk the stacks and the basement, smelling of perfume, moving books. She is usually identified with Louise Carpenter, the founder’s daughter, who sued unsuccessfully to break her father’s bequest. The building is a working public library in a Gothic pile; the cameras are still there.
