Each entry links to the record it came from. Access rules, permits and land status vary by country and are noted where the source states them, check locally before you go.
Open the mapSome of what the map draws comes from United States federal records: the Bureau of Land Management, the USGS, NOAA. Those surveys stop at the border, so 38 of the map's layers have nothing to draw here. They are greyed out on the map rather than quietly empty, and they are listed here so you know before you plan around them.
What does work here: the places on this page, the legends and their sources, published fossil localities, named mines, caves, ghost towns and shipwrecks worldwide, satellite imagery and the world place-name gazetteer. Scored honey holes and live land status are United States only, and are not shown here rather than being guessed at.
