The oldest building in Natchez, a tavern from the 1760s on the old Natchez Trace, where travelers off the deadly road drank among highwaymen. In the 1930s three skeletons and a jeweled dagger turned up walled into the chimney, tied to the tavern-keeper’s murdered mistress Madeline, whose ghost has been the house story ever since. It pours drinks again today.
