Swamp folklore that became a movie legend
A seven-foot red-haired swamp thing that terrorized a farm family near Fouke in 1971 and became a national sensation when a local filmmaker turned it into The Legend of Boggy Creek, a drive-in classic. Sightings along Boggy Creek run back a century. The bottoms are real and dark and full of hogs and gators; the monster is the folklore that keeps the town on the map.
