Modern back-road folklore of the northern Ohio woods

Ohio has its own version of a legend that runs across the old Midwest: the Melon Heads, said to be small, large-headed figures haunting the back roads of the Chagrin Valley east of Cleveland, blamed in the usual way on a vanished orphanage or asylum. There is no evidence of any such thing, and the real value here is the deep, genuinely eerie old-growth woods and ravines the story clings to. Told as the modern folklore it is.
