Lake-monster folklore, protected by two state legislatures
The long lake on the New York and Vermont line has its own monster, Champ, reported since the 1800s and photographed, contested, in 1977. Both states have passed resolutions protecting the creature, which may make it the only lake monster with two legislatures on its side. The lake is deep, cold and beautiful; the monster is the reason you keep watching the water.
