Eight killed in 1912, never solved; the house is preserved as it was
On the night of 9 June 1912 eight people, two adults and six children, were killed with an axe in a small house in Villisca, Iowa. Every mirror was covered, the bodies were covered, and a two-pound slab of uncooked bacon was left beside the weapon. Several suspects were named over the years, one was tried twice and acquitted, and the case has never been solved. The house has been restored to its 1912 condition with no electricity and is open for tours and overnight stays. Told plainly, because eight people including six children died here.
